History of Fibercare

Fibercare is a family-owned business specializing in rug & carpet cleaning for over 30 years. John and Martha bought the business in October 1994, expanding it over the years. Andrew started managing the business in 2018.

John and Martha purchased the business back in 1994 and have grown the business by adding other services such as upholstery cleaning, rug & carpet repair, leather cleaning, tile floor cleaning, and wood floor cleaning. We also offer in-shop rug cleaning, where the full process can be more thorough. John & Martha’s son, Andrew, was in the picture early on. When the Schremser’s bought Fibercare in October 1994 Andrew was just a baby. His growing up years included the Fibercare business, occasionally coming along after hours when John and Martha were cleaning a business. Andrew and his younger brother, Matthew, when they were old enough, assisted their dad with his cleaning jobs, receiving helpful business training during the process. Andrew benefitted from John’s educational emphasis by taking his first carpet cleaning class in 2010 at Chem Max in Norton Shores. The owner appreciated the young student and patiently worked with Andrew to complete the follow-up test. He is now certified with IICRC as a Master Textile Cleaner after adding cleaning experience with the necessary classes.

John’s vision helped develop Fibercare. He emphasized education for himself and his technicians. He fostered collaboration with others in the carpet and rug cleaning industry, learning from leaders and assisting others when able. Under his leadership, Fibercare helped organize occasional breakfasts for area carpet cleaners, bringing information and fostering cooperation. One summer our company was able to host a location stop for a carpet and rug cleaner seminar.

Fibercare is a member of IICRC and ARCS. All our technicians are IICRC certified and continue educational requirements to keep our standards high. ARCS association demands the highest standards in the rug cleaning industry for customer service, technical knowledge, and business management.

An important highlight for Fibercare came in 2004 when Scott Group Custom Carpet gave us the opportunity to clean two rugs from the White House State Room. Yes, they actually came from Washington DC! Since Scott Group had manufactured those beautiful rugs years before, they coordinated the restorative cleaning process, having them returned to their warehouse for cleaning. We still enjoy talking about this honor in our office today.
