Rug Cleaning & Repair
Over time, rugs can suffer from wear, damage, and unexpected accidents — but that doesn’t mean they need to be replaced.

Rug Cleaning & Repair
Our specialized cleaning process gently yet effectively removes dirt, dust, and stains while preserving the rug’s intricate fibers, vibrant colors, and unique craftsmanship. We have had the privilege of working on many family heirlooms and heritage rugs, including a beautiful rug for the white house!
Rug construction is different than the residential and commercial broadloom carpet which is dominated by tufting of synthetic fibers with a separate synthetic backing. Rugs offer an interesting variety of synthetic and natural fibers and types of construction. Woven constructions are prevalent and often natural foundation yarns are more prominent.
We have specific training and certification in rug cleaning.

Vacuuming your rug often —both front and back sides, and rotating it occasionally will help preserve the life of your rug. Although many kinds of damage can be repaired, prevention is much easier and less costly. It also helps to avoid placing potted plants on the rug and, whenever possible, to keep pets from staining. If pet spots do occur, we have the products and knowledge to help restore your rug.
Inspect the entire rug periodically for signs of wear or damage and have your rug cleaned regularly. Our trained experts will know the best way to clean your rug. A well cared for rug will provide many years of use and pride of ownership.
Your Rug's Second Chance
Rug Assessment
Our process starts with inspection of a rug, which identifies the fibers and how to best clean it. We note the shape the rug is in and identify any weakness and recommend possible repair for added useful life.
Dry Soil Removal
Our dry soil removal system at our shop starts our enhanced deep clean. This special equipment enables us to remove a maximum amount of dry soil before washing.
Spot Treatment
Spills or Pet spots are addressed during our washing process, which can get deep into the foundation and help remove any odors and restore the rug to its original fresh state.
BEFORE BUYING A RUG
A delightful rug makes a dramatic statement for the room. Rugs offer a broad range of fiber choices and construction options. Besides noticing a great look, a customer will want to be informed of the various properties of the rug fibers and their potential wearability and ease in cleaning. Other important considerations are the dollar amount available to spend, desired longevity of the rug, and interest in cleaning maintenance. These questions will help when selecting the best rug for each location.
Synthetic rugs offer a large variety of fabrics and designs. They offer a range of pleasant properties with typically great options for cleaning as well. Some fabrics resist staining from oil spots while others resist water spots. Some offer a softer fabric feel while others have more resilient fiber strength. Each rug can be evaluated for its suggested length of useful life.
A great choice for most areas is the classic wool rug as it has a pleasant feel, wears well, and has natural resistance to spotting. Classic oriental wool rugs are a very popular choice and a great investment. Rug artists create a wide range of designs and styles that delight many tastes. Generally wool cleans up well, but over time may still become damaged by recurring spills or pet spots.
Silk’s benefit is a strong fiber and a pleasant shine with a soft feel. This wears well and exercising caution in the cleaning process will keep the soft feel by adding a softening agent during the drying period. Wool and silk are a great combination for a long-lasting rug with dynamic properties of each.
Local Custom Rug companies that manufacture high quality rugs incorporate these natural fibers for a unique and delightful long-lasting rug.
Natural cotton fiber has a crisp, clean look and feel. When cotton is a part of the fiber blend, special care needs to be taken during the cleaning and drying process to keep it looking fresh.
Viscose was first produced at the end of the 19th century as an alternative for silk fabric. It has expanded into rugs and upholstery, offering a variety of interesting and dramatic pieces. This material comes under various names such as bamboo silk, Rayon, silkette, among others. It is produced by processing wood fibers and cotton by–products with a radical chemical transformation. China, India, Indonesia, and Malaysia are the main countries this material is produced in, as they are no longer made in America. This rug can offer a dramatic appeal and in a lightly trafficked area may handle well. Because of the fragile properties of the fibers, they can be easily damaged by water and even foot traffic can wear them down.
